February 7th

FLA :
This week in we started to work on the "Discours Oratoire". here are the guidelines and the rubric: Discours Oratoire. Students will start presenting on March 2nd. Even if two periods a week are scheduled to work on this project, I would advise students to work on it at home. Next week, we will start working on "La créature du marais", our first book reading comprehension and we will continu working on the "Discours Oratoire".

A spelling bee contest has been announced. If students want to participate, here is the list of words for the "Concours d'épellation". The finals will be during the week of March 9th.

Social Studies:
This week, we talked about how the first immigrants of China, Japan and India we treated when they first arrived in the Cordillera region in Canada.  Next week, will talk about the natural resources of the region and the gold rush.

Results for the Interior Plains' test are on Power School.

Math:
We are fast approaching the end of our unit on geometry. There will be a unit test on Wednesday, February 12. You can use these activities to prepare for the test. Here is a guide to help you with the 3d-shapes. You don't need to know the DECAGONAL shapes. Also, here are the notes to study. We will review in class next week. There will be no Math homework next week as it is a short week and also to give students a chance to prepare for the test.

ELA:
Students have been learning how to take notes and do active reading.  They just completed a note taking test so that they are ready for their research project.  Results are up on PowerSchool.  Their research project is researching a person that has made a difference in the world and then they will create a Goggle slide and present to the class.
