January 31st

Math
We continued learning about quadrilaterals and their properties. Next week, we will start talking about 3-D shapes.  Here is the homework for next week. Please note that it is due on Thursday, February 6th.


Science
We started our unit on Chemistry. We learned that matter is everything that is around us and that it comes in 3 different states: solid, liquid and gas. We also learned that sometimes, the environment and the humans can change the state of the matter. We used whipping cream to make butter in order to illustrate this concept. The Title Page will be due on Wednesday next week.

Social Studies
Don't forget there will be a test about the Interior Plains Monday, February 3rd.  Here is the study guide : Guide d'études.  Next week, we will continue working on the Cordillera region.

January 20-24

FLA:

This week in FLA we finished our super-hero project. Some students are not done and have to finish it at home, I will collect them on Monday. We also continued Le Petit Prince. Next week, we will start learning the proper structure of a text (introduction, development and conclusion) and how to build a paragraph. We will also continue to improve our sentence structure and our knowledge on adjectives, nouns and adverbs.

Math
We are currently learning about quadrilaterals in Math. Here is the homework for next week. It is due on Thursday, January 30th. Here are the notes to help you.

Science
We finished our unit on Weather. The marks for the unit test are posted in Power School. Our new unit is on Chemistry. Next week, we will start talking about matter and the states of matter: gas, liquid and solid.

Social Studies 
We will finish the Interior Plains Monday.  There will be a test February 3rd.  Here is the study guide: Guide d'études.  Next week, we will begin a new region : Cordillera.

ELA: Students had to write scripts that were adapted from the short story, Ms. Awful.  The scenes are now cast and the students are busy working on their representation skills through acting.  Their performance is on Tuesday, January 28th during class time.

January 13-17



Math:
Students will receive their Unit Test back on Monday. They are encouraged to bring it home and share it with parents. In the meantime, the marks are available in Power School.
We started a new unit on Geometry. We are learning about horizontal and vertical lines and parallel and perpendicular lines. Here is the homework for next week. It is due on Thursday, January 23.

Science:
We are finishing up our Weather unit with presentations about climate. There will be a unit test on Thursday, January 23.  We will practice in class next week but students should bring their notes home to study next week. Here is a guide to help students prepare adequately.

FLA:

This week in FLA we started to work on adjectives, we went to the library and we started a little project in which student have to create a superhero. Next week, we will continue working on the adjectives, the sentence structure and Le Petit Prince.

Social Studies
We will continue with the new unit on the Interior Plains.

January 7-10, 2020 (update)

Happy New Year!

Math
Please note that we will do our Unit Test on Tuesday, January 14. We used the entire week to review in class. Also, students are encouraged to practice by reviewing the activities on page 114, 115 in their textbook. More specifically, students are encouraged to work on the # 1, 2, 5, 8, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21. No other homework in Math this week.

Social Studies
There will be a test about the Canadian Shields next Monday (January 13th).  Here is the study guide: Guide d'études.

Next week, we will continue on our new unit : Interior Plains.

Science:
We are learning about climates. We will start a short group project next week. We will then conclude our unit on Weather with a test during the week of January 20.

FLA:
This week in FLA we continued Le Petit Prince, we did a listening comprehension and worked on improving our writing of basic sentence and how to build them. Next week, we will continue to work on the structure of a proper French sentence and we will start to learn about adjectives.
