Here is the homework for next week.

Science:
This week we have been dissolving candies such as Smarties and Life Savers and learned that by changing some variables, we can accelerate the process. Students will continue to experiment with the variables next week.

FLA:
This week we worked on the "Discours Oratoire". Here are the guidelines and the rubric : Discours Oratoire. Students will start presenting on Monday, March 2nd. We also read two chapter of "La créature du marais" chapter 3 and students answered questions about it in class (see mark on Powerschool), we started chapter four. Please check on PowerSchool, I am missing lots of chapter 2 assignments, students have to imagine what the creature looks like, draw it and describe it using 10 adjectives. Those adjectives need to be at the right place (before or after the noun) & have to be accorded (feminine or masculine & singular or plural). Next week, students will present their "Discours Oratoire" and we will finish the fourth chapter of "La créature du marais".

A spelling bee contest has been announced. If students want to participate, here is the list of words for the "Concours d'épellation". The finals will be during the week of March 9th.

Social Studies:
This week, students had the Cordillera test.  Students have seen their mark and they will be posted this weekend (hopefully).   We started the Arctic region (it is a very short region to learn about).  We will finish talking about that region next week.

This week we worked on the "Discours Oratoire". Here are the guidelines and the rubric : Discours Oratoire. Students will start presenting on March 2nd. Even if two periods a week are scheduled to work on this project, I would advise students to work on it at home. We also talked about Black history month on Friday. Next week, students will read the third and forth chapter of "La créature du marais" and they will have two more periods in class to complete their research for the Speech Contest.

A spelling bee contest has been announced. If students want to participate, here is the list of words for the "Concours d'épellation". The finals will be during the week of March 9th.

ELA:
Students are working on a 3-5 minute presentation with Google slides.  Their slides must follow the following design principles:
-1 message per slide
-no more than 6 objects per slide
-short sweet text
-dark backgrounds and use contrast to your advantage
-size matters (most important part of slide should be biggest)

It is highly recommended that they practice what they are going to say for their presentation in front of an audience at home.  This is a speaking assignment, so reading off a script is not allowed.  Point form prompts are fine.  Presentations will likely start on Wednesday next week.

Rubric: Presentation Rubric

Social Studies:
Don't forget their will be a test next Monday (February 24th) about the Cordillera region.  Here is the study guide : Guide d'études.  We started working on the last region, the Arctic region.  This one will be fairly short, so expect a test in a couple of weeks.
